Put in a work order to Campus Operations and the project will be directed to the department best suited to complete the work.

Trash/Refuse Removal/Chemical Spills

Remodeling

Note: Depending on the scope of the project, remodeling requests may need to be forwarded to Design and Construction Management to ensure that the structural integrity of the building will not be altered and that the changes will meet building code requirements.

Steam whistle

How can i find out more information on the steam whistle?  Click here for a link to the steam whistle. If you are interested in obtaining the steam whistle as a ring tone, the sound is public domain and can be recorded from the ground.  A request to record from the roof must be placed as a service request.

Animals allowed in buildings?

No pets are allowed in campus buildings. The following animals are permitted under the conditions specified here.

Skateboard or roller blade on campus?

“It shall be unlawful for any person to ride, skate or use a coaster, roller skates, skateboard, roller blades, or other similar device on sidewalks in the area of Jayhawk Boulevard from West Campus Road to Thirteenth Street including 1000 feet on either side of this corridor on the University of Kansas campus.” For more information on the policy click here.

Smoking campus?

Smoking, including the use of electronic cigarettes, and tobacco use are not permitted in any Lawrence campus or Edwards campus building, in the facilities of the KU Public Management Center in Topeka, or in other university sites reporting to the Lawrence campus. Smoking, including the use of electronic cigarettes, and tobacco use also are prohibited in the Kansas and Burge Unions, the Adams Alumni Center, and the facilities of the KU Center for Research, Inc.   Snow is not removed from doorway what should I do?

 Gas leak

Call 911 to report the situation. Clear the area immediately if instructed to do so by the emergency dispatcher, providing assistance to those with special needs. Provide your location and location of the odor to the dispatcher. Provide as many details as possible to the dispatcher.  If you detect a sew/gas odor please call 4-4770.

The Service Level Priorities for work orders are defined as follows:

Priority 1 - Emergency
(Response Time: Immediate)
Emergency work orders take priority over all other work and require immediate action to address situations that present immediate or imminent danger to life, health, safety, security, or significant damage to buildings, equipment, or other property.

Priority 2 - Urgent
(Response Time: Within 48 Hours)
Urgent work orders are unscheduled and reactive and may pose a threat of personal injury, cause property or equipment damage, or serious disruption of service. This type of work demands prompt attention to supplement emergency repairs or prevent a subsequent emergency. Urgent work orders may include responses to safety deficiencies and regulatory violations.

Priority 3 - Scheduled
(Response Time: Within 5 Days)
Scheduled work orders address date sensitive requests. This is work which may require prior coordination and lead time to procure supplies and/or services. Scheduled work orders include preventive maintenance services intended to protect and preserve physical assets and reduce the threat of major equipment breakdowns.

Priority 4 - Routine
(Response Time: Within 10 Days)
Routine work orders address service or project requests that do not pose a threat to life and property or disrupt University operations. These requests are put in the job queue and are processed in the order they are received.

Vehicle

For maintenance please place a service request.  For vehicle rental please contact Enterprise.  For an accident with a university vehicle and you want to check on an insurance claim, please contact the comptroller's office at 4-3790.  For vehicular accidents on campus, please call 4-5900.

Custodial Topics

Should the custodians move items to dust under them?

Custodial staff does not move personal objects to dust.

What should I do to dispose of cardboard boxes?

Cardboard boxes should be broken down to lay flat and placed by the centrally located recycle areas.

How can I be an FS Vendor?
